The members of the New Orleans Jazz Commission represent a wide variety of backgrounds and professions, from world-renowned scholars to government officials to community activists to teachers to working musicians. They share one thing, a lifelong love of jazz and of New Orleans, manifested as a dedication to its preservation and promotion, and to a greater understanding by the general public of jazz and its contributions to world culture.
