With Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Smithsonian Institution, New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park, and the Library of Congress, the Commission  sponsored a series of transcriptions of classic jazz recordings, Essential Jazz Editions.  Each consists of a detailed full score of the transcription, and a full set of performers’ parts, enabling student groups to study and learn to play each of these classic songs.

Historical essays included with the transcriptions were written by Dr. John Hasse, commission member.  Interpretive analysis of Tiger Rag was written by Dr. Jack Stewart, commission member.

Following are the Jazz Edition titles, available for research purposes through the Hogan Jazz Archives or the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park, and available for purchase at music stores everywhere.
