The French Quarter of New Orleans and the adjacent areas contain one of the richest arrays of fine architecture in the world, from the eighteenth to
twentieth centuries. More than that, they are rich in the history of early jazz. The Commission has produced four brochures to date, freely available at the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park’s
visitor center or below on-line. These tours give an informative self-guided walking tour of locations and neighborhoods that have figured prominently in the development of jazz--tours that provide insight
into the distinct urban culture that nurtured it.
